Theodore W. Baker - Major |
Theodore W. Baker, born and raised in Philadelphia, was living in Camden, N.J., and operating a tavern when the war began. A veteran of the Philadelphia militia, he enlisted as a captain on Sept. 9, 1861 in Company G. He was promoted to major in October 1862. Cited for gallantry at Chancellorsville, he was wounded at Gettysburg and resigned on disability on Aug. 19, 1863. After the war he was a farmer in Radnor, Pa., and died on Dec. 21, 1901.
